Zoo Ohrada the first week in September, 2006.

We would like to thank the South Bohemian District, for their financial support of the whole event, the money came from the Grant Program of Products and Services in Tourism.

Thanks to this financial support we were able to secure not only the symposium, but also supporting cultural programmes, the admission to these events was free of charge.

The visitors were able to listen to well known folk singers like Pavlína Jíšova, Jarda Samson, Lenka a Vojta Zícha with band Druhá míza only for the price of an admission ticket to the zoo.

HOW DID IT ALL START ?

The invited woodcarvers arrived, on Friday, the 1st September, so that they could select suitable pieces of oak tree trunks for their woodcarvings, which were prepared for them.

After that, the concert of the saws started, this was not too pleasant to the ears, but the work of the woodcarvers was a real pleasure for the eye. To watch the woodcarvers ideas emerging from the oak trunks was a fantastic experience.

This year the woodcarvers that came to us to show us their work and make fantastic woodcarvings for the zoo were

The symposium was concluded with a vernissage, which was opened with the band „Přelet“.

The Director of the Zoo Ohrada thanked all the woodcarvers for their beautiful woodcarvings and to the representatives of the South Bohemian Region for their financial support of the whole event.

The meeting with the artists was very pleasant and informal, and we hope that all participants had the same pleasant experience as we did. The September weather was also on our side.

So our friends, the woodcarvers, we hope that you will come to look not only at your woodcarvings, but also at us, the ones who are looking forward to our next meeting.
